The Planning Commission voted unanimously to forward the attached letter requesting that the City Council conduct a feasibility study for the installation of a photovoltaic (PV) array, battery storage, and microgrid at Salem’s McNary Field.

FACTS AND FINDINGS:

 

The City has approved funding for improvements to the airport and is also undertaking an Airport Master Plan process. The Planning Commissions recommends that the scope of the master plan be expanded to include a solar feasibility study.    

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The Planning Commission acts as an advisory commission to the City Council with a broad scope of concern in promoting the growth and orderly development of the city.
