FACTS AND FINDINGS:

 

There are two full-term vacancies expiring on December 31, 2025. The Council Board and Commission Appointments Committee reviewed applications and recommended the following applicants for consideration:  Jordan Truitt, Robert Bierma, and Logan Lor. City Council voted on December 3, 2021, to interview candidates immediately prior to the January 10, 2022, City Council meeting. Copies of the applications and candidates’ responses to the Questionnaire for Planning Commission candidates and are attached.  

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The Salem Planning Commission is established in SRC Chapter 6 and provides that the Commission shall consist of nine members to be appointed by the City Council, not more than one of whom shall be a nonresident of the City of Salem.

 

The Salem Planning Commission acts as an advisory commission to the City Council with a broad scope of concern in promoting the growth and orderly development of the City of Salem. In addition, the Commission reviews and issues decisions regarding a number of quasi-judicial land use applications.
