FACTS AND FINDINGS:

A grant program is identified as an eligible project in Sections 1105 and 1108 in the Riverfront-Downtown Urban Renewal Area (RDURA) Plan.

This reallocation will not have any operational impacts to the Capital Improvement Grant Program. The RDURA Capital Improvement Grant Program has a budget of $5.1M.

BACKGROUND:

The Strategic Project Grant was created in February 2019 to support the goals of addressing homelessness within the RDURA. Eligible projects include fencing, trash/recycling enclosures, exterior lighting, and security camera systems. To date, Strategic Grant Funds have been committed to 27 projects within the RDURA. The current program balance is $29,000 and there is program interest from property owners for future projects that exceeds that amount.

Adding funds to the Strategic Grant Program will allow future grant assistance for projects that help reduce crime and contribute to safety and security.
