SUMMARY:
The City maintains large tracts of land surrounding the Windsor Island Water Treatment Facility in, and adjacent to, the City of Keizer. The City routinely leases this excess land to farmers to generate income and maintain the property. Portions of two of these parcels, located at 611Bowden Lane North and 5915 Windsor Island Road North (collectively the “Property”) are not currently under lease and staff desires to execute a lease for the parcels.
FACTS AND FINDINGS:
Staff has come to terms with Weeks Berry Nursery, Inc. (Lessee) (John Weeks, President & Bradley Weeks, Secretary) for the Property. Key terms of the lease are below.
Acreage: 11 acres and nine acres
Term: five years
Renewal Options: 10 one-year terms
Rate: $250 per acre
Special Conditions: one-year free rent to offset removal cost of existing trees
BACKGROUND:
Rental revenue from this lease will be allocated to the Public Works Water and Sewer Administrative Fund.
