The Board and Commission Appointments Committee unanimously recommends City Council interview Bonnie Heitsch, Vanessa Nordyke, and Reid Sund for the Ward 7 vacancy. The Committee recommends City Council hold a Special Meeting on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 6:00 PM for the interviews and to appoint the Ward 7 councilor.

After reviewing and discussing the applications, the Board and Commission Appointments Committee unanimously recommends that the City Council invite Bonnie Heitsch, Vanessa Nordyke, and Reid Sund to interview for the vacant Ward 7 council seat on Monday, October 21, 2019.
The appointment is made by City Council. The Board and Commission Appointments Committee’s recommendation is to assist City Council with completing the appointment process. Pursuant to City Council Rule 18c, a councilor may move to have any applicant be considered for appointment.
Background:
On September 19, 2019, Councilor Sally Cook submitted her resignation from office, effective October 1, 2019. At the September 23, 2019 City Council meeting, City Council declared Councilor Cook’s seat vacant. City Manager Steve Powers set October 8, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. as the deadline for receiving applications. A news release was published, and the vacancy was posted on the City’s web page.
Twelve applications were received by the deadline date. Per Council Rule 18, the Board and Commission Appointments Committee met on October 10, 2019 to review the applications.
