SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND:

 

The Mayor reviewed applications and announces his appointment of the candidates listed in Facts and Findings.

Center 50+ Advisory Commission

The Center 50+ Advisory Commission serves as an advisory commission to the City Council and Salem Senior Center Staff in matters related to the operations of the Salem Senior Center.

Historic Landmarks Commission

 The Historic Landmarks Commission advises the Council on matters pertaining to historic sites and structures in Salem, administers the Historic Preservation Ordinance, and assists property owners in preservations of such structures.

Human Rights and Relations Advisory Commission

Salem Revised Code Chapter 8 creates the Human Rights and Relations Advisory Commission, which states that appointments are made by the Mayor.

 

 

FACTS AND FINDINGS:

 

Center 50+ Advisory Commission

Appoint Alise Liepnieks as representative of the Alzheimer’s Association. As an agency partner, this position does not have a term limit.

Appoint Rebekah Smith as representative of Salem Electric. As an agency partner, this position does not have a term limit.

Historic Landmarks Commission

Reappoint Russell Schutte to a full term expiring December 31, 2020.

Reappoint Kevin Sund to a full term expiring on December 31, 2020.

Reappoint Jennifer Timbrook-Maglinte to a full term expiring on December 31, 2020.

Appoint Lindsey Kerr to a partial term “professional” position expiring on December 31, 2018.

Appoint Carroll Cottingham to a partial term “at-large” position expiring on December 31, 2019.

Human Rights and Relations Advisory Commission

Reappoint Alexandra Dass to a full term expiring on December 31, 2020.
