SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND:

 

At the June 6, 2016 Housing Authority Commission meeting, the Commission authorized Resolution No. 2187 approving the Revised Family Self-Sufficiency Program Action Plan in order to participate in a U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) demonstration program to provide housing opportunities for youth. 

 

Subsequent to the Commission action on June 6, 2016, HUD has provided additional information for inclusion to the Revised Family Self-Sufficiency Program Action Plan.

 

 

FACTS AND FINDINGS:

 

Staff has added additional language to the June 6, 2016 Approved Revised Family Self-Sufficiency Program Action Plan. New language is added as follows:

 

Page Five related to accessibility:

 

Auxiliary aids such as interpreters, large print or readers will be provided to applicants and participants as needed to assure that all are given an equal opportunity to participate.

 

Page Eight related to outreach, notice, and website information:

 

An FSS brochure is included in briefing session packets.  FUP Youth receive information on the 5-year demonstration at their individual briefing sessions.   The SHA website includes a notice to youth aging out of foster care that they may be eligible for FUP Youth vouchers and the FSS program.  Eligible FUP-Youth may enroll in the 5-year demonstration at any time during their initial 18 month FUP eligibility.
