Adopt Resolution No. 2017-43, amending Resolution No. 2017-29, to expand the number of members of the Salem City Council Transit Committee from nine to a maximum of 17.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND:

 

At the May 22, 2017, City Council meeting, Council adopted Resolution No 2017-29, creating the Salem City Council Transit Committee. The resolution set the number of members at 9, with three members being city councilors, and three members at large from the public. Mayor Bennett to increase the size of the committee to allow for a greater breadth of public knowledge and input.

 

 

FACTS AND FINDINGS:

 

In an effort to include as many community members as possible who have an interest in having the Salem area served by a robust, convenient, and financially sustainable public transportation system, Resolution No. 2017-43 amends Resolution No. 2017-29 to increase the number of committee members from nine to a maximum of 17. Through a separate Mayor’s item on tonight’s agenda, the Mayor is announcing appointments of the following individuals, contingent on council increasing the committee membership:

 

Christina Marquez Guerrero

Meg Rowe

Cesar Torres Ibarra

Rebecca Engle

Sadie Carney
