FACTS AND FINDINGS:
At the October 6 meeting, the Council Board & Commission Appointments Committee recommended the following appointments to the Community Police Review Board:
• Jeffery Jorgenson, appointed as a regular member with a term expiration of 1/1/27
• Kelly Raths, currently an alternate member, appointed into a regular member position, with a term expiration of 1/1/27 (no application attached as it already came before Council when she was appointed alternate)
• George McLean, appointed as an alternate member with a term expiration of 1/1/27
• Ashley Kuenzi, appointed as an alternate member with a term expiration of 1/1/26
BACKGROUND:
The Community Police Review Board is comprised of seven members and two alternates. When appointing new members, Council shall consider: (1) civic participation within the community; (2) residency within the City of Salem; (3) criminal history; (4) commitment to the goals of the Board; (5) demonstrated life experiences or training in cultural or ethnic diversity; and (6) any experience the individual has had with police officers in general, and the Salem Police Department in particular.
