SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND:
Section 22 of the Salem City Charter provides that the Mayor shall make appointments to committees. Pursuant to that authority, the Mayor is announcing the appointment of Councilors Steve McCoid and Brad Nanke to the City Manager’s Performance Evaluation Committee, joining current members Mayor Peterson and Councilor Bennett.
Current Committee members, Councilors Bednarz and Dickey, have agreed to step down from the Committee in order to allow for an orderly transition in the evaluation process upon the end of their terms on December 31.
The City Manager’s Performance Evaluation process is established in Council Policy A-6. The Policy was adopted by Council in 1995, and last amended in 2000. The Policy is outdated, and a substantial updates are needed. Prior to beginning the evaluation process, the Evaluation Committee will review the current Policy and make recommendations to Council for revisions. Upon adoption of the new Policy by Council, the Committee will begin the City Manager’s evaluation consistent with the adopted policy.
FACTS AND FINDINGS:
